So, recently I went to New York City with a close friend of mine a few weeks ago. I hadn’t been to NYC in what seems like forever, but I am so glad we took this adventure for the Global Citizen Festival this year. In case you don’t know what this music festival is about I’ll give you a brief synopsis: Global Citizen aims to end poverty by 2030 and tackles big issues such as climate change, gender inequality, social injustices, education, sustainable communities, and overall is bringing awareness to causes and groups that truly need it. Basically, it’s making a difference by urging people to take action and make a difference, starting with themselves. I think it links back to a great message that Mahatma Ghandi spoke: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” (I happen to have a canvas picture of this quote hanging in my office). Overall it was a great time and a great cause.
This year one of my favorite bands of all time played, The Killers, along with The Lumineers, Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, Andra Day, Big Sean, Pharrell Williams, Green Day, and Stevie Wonder. It was a beautiful day in the city, although a tad (or a lot) hot! I’ll leave these pictures here for you guys to check out. I highly recommend this music festival, not only were the acts amazing, but the cause is even greater. Take action by joining up with your fellow Global Citizens at the link below 🙂 and let me know what other music festivals/concerts/causes I should check out!
